A section of leaders and elders is appealing to the national and county governments to provide local residents with animal fodder as the ongoing drought persists.

 The leaders, who hail from Goreale ward, Lagdera constituency, have decried lack of pasture for their animals, which they claim that has put them an in awkward position. The leaders also said that the government needs to respond fast enough or else they will lose their animals.

 The area MCA Abdurhaman Idris, who addressed the supporters on Wednesday, said that the national government needs to work with the local government to ensure that the demands of the local residents are fully met. 

The lawmaker opined that drought has affected the economy of the region, adding that there is need for quick remedy to be taken before it is too late.

 “The drought is in its critical stage. It has claimed hundreds of our livestock. We urgently need water and food supply for both our animals and our people,” Idris said, as quote by The Star.

 On his part, Iftin MCA Mohamed Gabow said that the county government has not done enough to assist some of the residents of the area to fight the ongoing drought. He accused the government of channeling resources to certain regions of the county while forgetting the rest.
