Garissa Township legislative aspirant Siyat Osman has tendered his resignation letter to the Lamu County government in readiness for the 2017 elections.

In a letter seen by this writer, Osman expressed that he was complying to the provisions of the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission that required all public servants to resigns from their present jobs if they were to venture into elective politics.

"My intention is to seek for an elective seat in the forthcoming 2017 general elections and pursuant to the Independent Electoral and Bondaries Commission (IEBC) rule that public servants wishing to contest for an elective post must resign by February 8, 2017 or six months before the elections," read the letter in part.

Captain Siyat Osman now becomes the very first aspirant to tender his resignation document in readiness for the fierce battle at the Garissa Township constituency.

Recently, Wajir County government announced that all its staff who were interested in various elective posts to submit official resignation letters. 

However, Farah Maalim, who is an employee of the county is yet to make his formal submission for the elective post.
