The locals say their leaders have failed them, and should be held liable for the drought.

They have accused the leaders of misappropriating the county funds, and that is the reason they are facing drought and cant access water clean water.

“The county government embarked on a ‘mission’ to drill boreholes and end the water crisis in Garissa, but look now. We can’t even access drinking water.” says Mohamed Abdi, a local.

They want the national government to conduct an audit on the menace to find out how the county money was used, saying the leaders failed to plan for the drought.

“The county government had all the time to roll out food security programmes, which include irrigation. Where did the money for such projects go? Our governor kept on praising his efforts about the boreholes he dug but we are suffering,” says Abdirizak Shurie.

They want the politicians to be held accountable on how the county government’s money was spent.
