According to the Star, preliminary results indicated that Korane had garnered 55, 968 votes (51.76%) against Nathif Jama’s 55, 968 votes.

Korane was contesting on Jubilee while Jama was defending his post on Wiper, which is led by Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

There was smoke billowing from the market following the destruction of several grocery stalls as well as shops.

The owners of the stalls in collaboration with the county government firefighters and general members of the public attempted to salvage some of the properties at the scene of the incident but their efforts proved futile. Security personnel had a rough time attempting to disperse the crowd from the scene of the crime as youths attempted to burn everything that came their way.

Police officers have said that the cause of the fire is yet to be established. Korane and Jama have been at loggerheads since they both declared to contest for the area’s governorship. The two were both confident of re-election.
