Garissa MCAs have finally accepted to pass the 2016/17 budgetary allocations after months of continued disagreements. The members of the assembly now say the contentious issues in the budget have been addressed and that the budget is to be approved in a week's time.
The new development emerged after a series of consultations with the county executive, with the main objective being to harmonize controversial allocations and also making necessary adjustments.
In June this year, the county MCAs unanimously trashed the budget estimates claiming that it never considered the necessary aspects as stated in the county's proposed fiscal policy provisions.
The assembly members had expressed their dis satisfactions that the county finance executive never gave them explanations as to why their resolutions on the policy were not adopted.
According to the county assembly speaker, although the budget had some few areas that needed some amendments, the MCAs have eventually met and effected the changes.
