Garissa MCAs are in Nairobi for a one week induction course over assembly activities after they were sworn in on Thursday last week.

County Assembly Clerk Mohamud Santur on Sunday said the programme will end on Saturday.

The MCAs will learn about the general structure of the assembly, the legislative procedures, the assembly procedures and practices, the committee system and the laws they have to be cognizant with during the induction.

Newly elected speaker, Ibrahim Abass will also attend the induction.

Santur said the House will reconvene for the official opening, the event that will be presided over by county governor Ali Korane after the completion of the induction in Nairobi.

Garissa county assembly has a total number of 49 MCAs, 30 elected and 19 nominated.

Masalani ward residents did not elect their representative after one candidate died in an accident two weeks to general elections.

The assembly will have 50 members once they elect their representative.
