Members of Garissa County assembly are set to meet together with the executive to review the 2016/17 Sh7 billion budget estimates afresh.
The Assembly speaker, Mohamed Abbey, said the county assembly will hold a consultative session with the executive to end the month-long stalemate over the budgetary allocations.
In June this year, the MCAs unanimously discarded the budget estimates stating that it never considered the vital aspects as stated in the county's fiscal policy provisions.
The assembly members expressed their dissatisfaction that the finance executive never explained to them the reasons as to why their resolutions on the policy were effected.
Abbey said that although the budget had some few areas that needed amendments, the MCAs will meet to effect the changes in order to harmonise the estimates.
“Although the county budget had several issues that needed amendment, it can be easily rectified and brought back for approval. We are redoing the exercise for the good of Garissa County residents, who require exemplary services from us,” Abbey said.
At the moment, the county is using funds from the office of the Controller of Budget in a bid to ensure that essential services are not interrupted.
