The attack, which transpired on Friday night, left two herders with deep cuts on the head and back. The wounded herders are now admitted at the Garissa Hospital.

Issuing the statement on behalf of the Muslim brethren, the Garissa Supkem Secretary General Abdullahi Salat sharply condemned the incident, saying such cases may recur again in the near future to use ethnic divisions among the pastoralist communities.

“The incident was very unfortunate. It was unwise for a few elders to resort to hiring goons to attack fellow herders. Such acts should never be happening in this century," issued Salat.

He, however urged security officers attached to the region to investigate the incident and punish the culprits who will be found to have played a role in the attacks.

“I urge local police to speedily investigate the incident and apprehend all those behind the unfortunate incident,” Salat added.
