The Government has officially announced that it will kick-start the delivery of Jubilee laptops to Class One pupils across the various counties as from Friday this week.
The massive roll-out programme will see all the Cabinet and Permanent Secretaries lead the exercise that is expected to last a month.
In Garissa County, Public Works Principal Secretary Paul Mwangi will lead the launching exercise that is set to be held at Jaribu Primary school.
According to Information and Communication CS Joe Mucheru, the involvement of cabinet and principal secretaries has been advised by the need to fast-track the distribution exercise so that the school kids can get to use the laptops as soon as possible.
The Jubilee government laptop project has been elusive since the year 2013, with a total of over 1.2 million devices expected to be distributed to all the 23,951 public primary schools by the end of this year.
The digital devices include laptops for tutors and tablets for pupils, which have been pre-installed with Kenya Institute of Curriculum Developments (KICD)-approved content.
