Ahadi Kenya and Lotto foundation on have donated an ambulance to Garissa County in an effort to boost health service delivery.
The ambulance dubbed Mashinani Ambulance will be attached to Shantaabaq health center in Lagdera constituency, Garissa.
Ahadi Kenya CEO Dr. Stanley Kamau said the ambulance will greatly improve and ease access to health facilities and services especially to pregnant mothers.
Kamau said the ambulance will benefit mothers, especially those in remote villages, who are unable to get healthcare readily.
“Garissa is one of the counties that is doing very well in maternal health. The ambulance is going to add more value in saving lives as it provides 24 hour emergency assistance,” he said.
“The ambulance is fitted with an Ultra Sound machine and it will help reduce infant/maternal deaths among the rural population,” said Dr. Kamau who was speaking when he officially handed over their 26th ambulance.
He thanked the First Lady Mrs. Margret Kenyatta for her Beyond Zero campaign for its maternal and child health programmes and urged Kenyans to support her initiatives.
“She has shown that she is passionate about issues involving children and mothers. When somebody does well, it is always important that you support that person to be able to do more. Such individuals should not be targeted because of their political affiliation, regional or ethnic background,” added Kamau.
Garissa Governor’s wife Mrs. Amina Abdullahi, who received the donation thanked Ahadi Kenya and Lotto Foundation saying the additional effort will boost facilitation of referral services in the county.
“Our concerted effort towards improvement of maternal, new born and child health is not in vain,” she said.
