This is after the company director, Jack Zhang Fei stopped all operations following threats from a group of locals led by an MCA who openly warned to destroy the firm property including the modern excavation bulldozers and tractors.

Zhang Fei is now imploring the government to provide security to the site to ensure the project is finished in adherence to the strict deadlines provided.

Meanwhile, Nunow village council of elders’ chairman, Mohamed Daud said that it was unfortunate that few self-centred individuals in the area were acting rogue and frustrating the ongoing road construction project geared towards improving the local community.

Some of the construction workers have also raised concern over the fate of their future following the halt of the project saying they depended on the work for their daily bread.

Although it is not clear why some of the residents want the project stopped it is apparent that hundreds of youth would be rendered jobless following the unexpected closure.
