National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has called on Garissa residents to uphold and preserve their culture.

"We must at all times preserve, protect and sustain the cultural heritage of our people for our children and their children," Duale said. 

Speaking on Sunday at the Garissa Cultural Centre where over 38 Cushitic groups showcased their diverse cultural practices, Duale announced that Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario will be inaugurating an Annual cultural festival later this year, a move aimed at promoting cultural diversity in the region. 

"We have invited Cabinet Secretary for Sports and Culture Hassan Wario to visit the cultural centre and launch an Annual cultural festival in December 2016," he revealed.
