Humanity played out on Friday as hundreds of residents from Garissa County thronged different points to donate blood for victims of the terror attack in Somalia.
According to a local daily, the deadly attack left more than 300 persons dead while another 500 sustained injuries on different parts of their body.
The incident took place on Saturday following the double truck bombing in Mogadishu, which is the capital city of Somali. The attack has gone into the books of history as one of the deadliest in the recent years.
The attack comes at a time when Kenya Defense Forces are camping in the neighboring county of Somali in a bid to end the operations of the terror group Al Shabaab.
The donation was undertaken at the Garissa Primary School playground with several residents leaving their jobs to save lives. The drive is expected to run for the next three days as the Red Cross seeks to raise more than 150 pints of blood daily.
The exercise has attracted different parties including students, residents and, the business community.
Speaking to the press, Muslim Youths’ Association member Abubakar Mohammed said that the youths from this county have responded positively towards the call, adding that they are emphatic with their brothers who became victims of the attack.
The residents have also said that they will form a kitty to donate to the victims.
