The governor said that his administration had performed well in terms of initiating development projects despite many challenges.

He said the county government had spent a substantial time setting out plans and systems to improve service delivery and also improving many key sectors such as health, education and water.

Jama speaking in Garissa town on Monday highlighted some of his achievements as reasons why voters should give him another five-year term saying that his administration has built hospitals in all sub counties and operating theatres in Balambala and Modogsahe sub counties.

“People living in rural areas are not interested in clan groupings being advanced by my competitors. All they want are services. These parameters will guide their voting,” he said.

The governor dismissed as baseless and inconsequential accusations against him by his rivals claiming that he failed to deliver on his election promises.

“Some funny groupings, with whatever name, were called and the verdict was that I should not be reelected. Leaders are not elected by a few groups, but by the masses based on performance and the goodwill that exists between them and the people,” said Mr Jama.

Over the weekend, Senator Yussuf Haji and Jubilee Party governor candidate Ali Korane met more than 200 elders and professionals from the Absame clan and blamed the governor for plundering the resources of the county with an administration riddled with corruption urging the residents to vote him out.
