Thika Traffic Base Commandant William Ohuru has said that there are various projects meant to give the busy road a facelift among them being construction of footbridges on blackspot and therefore called for caution among motorists.

"Truck drivers and wide load motorists must especially be very careful while using the road to avoid accidents because there are many activities going on along the road that have left it squeezed especially along Thika-Kivulini stretch. Let motorists slow down along this part for safety sake," Ohuru said on Wednesday at his office.

He further asked various the truck drivers delivering supplies to or coming for goods from various industries located along the highway to park their lorries responsibly at convenient locations away from the road to avoid blocking other motorists using the road and causing unnecessary traffic.

"Truck drivers who come for or take goods to industries located near Engen Petrol Station in Makongeni along the highway have been very notorious on parking their lorries on the road and therefore leaving very little space for other motorists to use. This is unacceptable and we want them to ask the industries to provide them with alternative parking," he added.

Other facelift projects going on at the road include repairing of potholes, construction of non-motorised lanes at the roadside among others.
