Fourteen public schools in Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties are set to benefit from a massive Sh1 billion water project in an initiative funded by the Saudi and Kenyan governments.

Speaking in Wajir Girls' Secondary when he commissioned the school's water project, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa announced that the government would would soon launch the projects in the three beneficiary counties.

“In our journey to ensure every school has clean and reliable water, we are here in Wajir Girls to ensure we take commence this step to commission the first ever project under the water for schools project funded jointly by Saudi and Kenyan governments. The project will continue in other fourteen schools across Garissa, Wajir and Mandera,” he said.

The Water CS further added that the Jubilee administration had heavily invested in education, and particularly allocating more resources to school initiatives.

Wajir Girls secondary school is among the 14 schools in Wajir, Garissa and Mandera counties that will largely benefit from the water programme.
