Parents and students in the region are now optimistic.

The region that has been witnessing a number of teachers withdrawing their services could regain normalcy soon. After the deadly Garissa University terror attack, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) advised its members to move out of the place citing security reasons.

TSC, however, issued a circular to all county directors of education notifying them of the impending exercise in what it says is meant to ensure equal distribution of teachers across the various areas.

Marginalised areas mostly lying within Garissa, Samburu, Wajir and Mandera counties are some of the hard-hit suburbs with parents and school principals resorting to hiring form four leavers.

In what is expected to be yet another collision between Knut and TSC, Wilson Sossion who is the union's Secretary General has issued a notice warning the employer-union against the exercise. He says the government should alternatively hire more teachers to fill the gaps.
