Haji, speaking in Garissa Town on Wednesday, two days after policemen were allegedly ambushed by Al Shabaab militants while on patrol, said that operations to hunt down the terrorists should be done differently.

He says that the operation squads protecting the area should not make use of vehicles and military jets much in their operations but should rather employ guerilla tactics just like the terrorists have been doing.

"Everything must be done to win this fight because we should not leave these terrorists to feel like they are winning. We have to change our tactics because the one we are using is not helping much. We need to be ahead of them technology-wise and in all aspects," said Haji.

The senator also wants a change in the intelligence gathering methods where he proposes that locals be involved more because as he says "they understand the language, culture and the region in general".
