Haji argues that Uhuru-Raila last week meeting came as a relief to the country that has been trapped into political anxiety after last year’s general election.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Jubilee senator said that Uhuru and Raila’s decision to meet for the interest of the country is laudable.

He said that the country will now move forward and achieve its development agenda after the two leaders agreed to push for dialogue.

“We are happy that our leaders have decided to put their political interests aside and unite the country, this is a great gesture that should be embraced by all Kenyans,” Haji said.

Senator Haji said that the interests of the country are much bigger, adding that it is time politicians across the divide worked for a common agenda which is to unite the country.

The Jubilee senator said that the country was on the verge of political crisis should Uhuru and not have agreed to talk.

Senator Haji pleaded with NASA co-principals Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Mudavadi Uhuru and Raila in uniting the country.

Haji said that time for politics is now over adding that elected leaders must settle down and deliver on the promises they made to their electorates.

President Kenyatta’s meeting with Raila last week has drawn reactions across the divide with majority politicians lauding the meeting.

However, a section of politicians allied to Kalonzo, Mudavadi, and Wetangula have been crying foul on why Raila kept them in the dark on the meeting with Uhuru.

On Monday, NASA principals agreed to wider and inclusive national dialogue.

On Wednesday, Kalonzo said that he alongside Mudavadi and Wetangula are seeking to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta once he jets back to the country from Cuba where he is son official duty.

A section of ODM politicians has however criticized Kalonzo’s push to separately meet Uhuru terming it unnecessary.
