Celebrations and jigs thundered on Saturday in Bosansa village, Sameta Sub-county, when a family re-united with their son, a Garissa University attack survivor after spending two months in hospital bed receiving treatment.

Speaking to this Journalist in his home, Ronald Morang’a who is a second year student at Garissa said the attack was a motivating factor and he will strive towards effectuating academic preeminence.

Morang’a who was pursuing education career in the university asked youths to desist from being enrolled in terrorism groups and instead asked them to focus on positive things that will transform their lives to the better.

He however, blamed the government for not adhering to its pledge of providing survivor victims from the Garissa terrorist attack so that they can recover and fade out horrible situation they went through.

“Am not stable because I have not been counseled well. I heard the county government was giving therapeutic service to survivors but I have not been counseled yet,” said the survivor.

He added, “I ask the youths to cease from being used by terror groups and instead embark on their lives.”

His father, Cosmas Morang’a, asked the government to support his son with a scholarship that he can complete his studies.

“I have spent all recourses I had to treat my son, and therefore I ask the government to support his so that he can complete his studies,” Morang’a appealed.

He has also appealed to the government to provide his son with earing machine since he has difficulties with hearing after he was shot in the ear by the Alshabab militia in the attack.

The survivor escaped the cruel hand of terrorists with injuries following an attack in the Garissa University that occurred on second April this year.

He sustained bullet wounds when he was shot from one ear and the bullet passed through to the other and he lost his three fingers of the left hand. A total of 148 students were killed in the attack with70 others escaping the attack from Gusii region.

Evans Ongaga, an administrator with Jaramogi Odinga University Kisii Campus has called on the government to improve security in learning institutions to prevent more attacks.
