Garissa University College is slowly picking up two and half years after the deadly terror attack that claimed lives of 152 students.

According to a local daily, this year the institution has already admitted 277 government sponsored students of the 470 slots that were reserved by the government.

Speaking to the press, the principal of the college Prof Ahmed Osman Warfa said that the situation has gone back to normal but there are students who fear to learn at the college.

This is after only a few students were admitted at the college under Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Services turned up.

The principal also said that the government has put in place measures to ensure that the institution is not attacked in the near future. He further said that both government and self-sponsored students have expressed the desire to attend their studies at the college despite the dark past.

“The university is still picking up although whatever happened can’t be forgotten easily. Many students both from government and privately sponsored have been coming to seek admission,” he said.

The administrator also called upon security personnel dispatched to the area to work diligently to ensure that the security situation remains stable.
