Garissa University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ahmed Warfa has expressed satisfaction on how the security of the institution has been improved since the brutal attack of 2nd Apri,l 2015.

The professor cited erection of perimeter wall around the school, fitting of sophisticated CCTV cameras on the intensive wall, installation of a police post in the school and presence of biometric identification device at the entrance of the university as some of the measures being undertaken to heighten the security of the institution.

He applauded the national government for the robust support it accorded to the institution, which has subsequently catalyzed its functionality.

"We really thank the national government for the unwavering support they have given us which has actually facilitated our operation. Now that security has been fully guaranteed, we expect the university to blossom and thrive in terms of education dispensation," said professor.

The VC has further pleaded with students joining university this year to enroll the university in large number to seal the huge deficit admission they are grappling with since the unfortunate incident by the Alshabab. 

"I want to assure the current and incoming student that the school is now safe; there is nothing to worry about it. In fact, as per now, our institution is the 'safest university in all the universities," quipped the professor.

The university suffered mass exodus in April 2015 when gunmen of four struck in the wee hour of the morning and killed 148 students, injuring more than 79 others.
