Garissa University on Saturday took to the ballot to elect their student leaders for the academic year 2018/19.
In what has been considered as the most peaceful campaigns, the students are optimistic that the successful candidates will diligently represent them in airing their concerns.
Several students who spoke to this writer at the university premises expressed their satisfaction that the elections and campaigns were conducted in a free and fair manner.
"The shortlisted aspirants got there fairly and squarely. There are no preferred candidates that have since been fronted by the administration. We hope the counting will be transparent as it is the final stage of the election process,' Said Abdikarim, a second-year student in the School of Business.
In the recent past, university elections have been witnessing chaos with students alleging influence where college administrators impose their preferred candidates to the students.
