Farah opted to drop out of the race for the area's parliamentary seat, arguing that the elders hatched a plot to lock him out as the election date inches closer.
Farah, who spoke on Tuesday, said that the push for negotiated democracy by the elders has dealt him a major blow, adding that he has no choice but to bow out of the race.
"I am not in the race for MP. Negotiated democracy has caused confusion to the people of Mandera," Farah said.
The lawmaker also said that his efforts to convince the elders to allow him defend his seat proved futile. He also lamented that different aspirants in the area feel shortchanged.
"The end results of negotiated democracy are not worth investing in because almost every candidate feels shortchanged by the elders," he added.
The politicians also revealed that he opted to take a tough move because he does not want to divide the community as we head to the polls."I had to mind the community and avoid punching the decision makers so that my future can remain stable."
