The residents of Kikuyu town will have a reason to smile after Kiambu roads CeC Njeri Gatabaki officially opened the new Kikuyu bus park and sanitation block which will greatly help to ease congestion of traffic in the town.
Kikuyu being among the fastest growing town in Kenya according to Gatabaki who was speaking on Tuesday in Kikuyu town, it will greatly impact on economic development the moment the traffic congestion is eased.
“The bus park is meant to boost the economic status of the sub county and create employment for the area residents as well,” said the CeC
The program which was funded by both the county government and the National government is set to accommodate more than 60 vehicles similar to the one which was opened by the Kiambu county governor William Kabogo in Gatundu south.
The area residents had earlier expressed concerns with the traffic congestion in the region and poor state of market that was in a terrible state and called on the area MP Ichungwa Kimani to come on the rescue.
According to the engineer Gatabaki, the market will earn revenue to the county and thus urged the youth to come up with businesses to fill up the stalls and create employment for them.
She said that in partnership with the county government of Kiambu, she will ensure she has eased traffic congestion to allow economic development and growth of the town.
She added that farmers will now be able to transport perishable goods to the market in an easy way since there will be enough space for vehicles to park and allow easy passage of the vehicles.
