Gatherings at Jeevanjee Gardens by a popular group known as Bunge La Wananchi in Nairobi has been banned following a fight between Jubilee and NASA supporters on Tuesday.

Central OCPD Robinson Thuku said on Thursday only smokers were allowed to the smoking zone and no group will be allowed to hold a meeting there.

"Groups planning to hold meetings whose intentions is to cause chaos will not be allowed. Members of the public should look for alternative place"to hold their meetings since the place has been sealed by police,'' said Thuku.

He said police are mandated to ensure there is peace in the country and that is what they are doing.

"The decision to ban meetings is not as a result of politics but it is part of the police officers' work to protect lives of the people,'' he noted.
