Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo has urged the youth to take control of their destiny by avoiding drugs and participating fully in elections.
Speaking in a road show campaign dubbed 'Epuka Ulevi' on Saturday which traversed all wards of Ruiru constituency, Gathogo told the youth that drugs only benefit the peddlers.
"Drugs and illicit brews will only ruin your lives as it only benefits the peddlers and brewers. Stay sober so that you can take control of your destiny," said Gathogo.
She also urged the youth to register as voters. "I also want to mobilise all residents who have not yet registered as voters to come out and register during the remaining days," urged Gathogo.
"It is also the right of every constituent to exercise his/her duty at the ballot box by choosing the leader of their choice," she also added.
At the same time, Gathogo lauded businessmen from Mt Kenya region for forming a foundation to spearhead social, political and economic transformation in the area.
"I want to appreciate the leaders who have brought to life this noble idea as it will help our region develop in many sectors," said Gathogo.
The foundation has kicked off its activities by launching 'Epuka Ulevi, Kaa Sober' campaign aimed at eradicating drugs abuse and consumption of illicit brews.
The campaign also pushed for massive ID and voter registration.
