She regrets her comments on MPs proposed pay [Photo/Citizen Digital]Kiambu Woman Rep-elect Gathoni Wamuchomba has regretted her utterances during a live TV interview concerning MPs salaries.On Wednesday, Gathoni told NTV that 'she deserves to be paid well and honoured for what she is' which did not go well with many Kenyans on social media who bashed her the whole day.However, appearing on Citizen TV on Thursday morning, Wamuchomba said that she was quoted out of context and she even has no problem with what Salaries and Remuneration Commission is offering MPs in the new proposed salaries structure'."I said I do not know much about Sarah Serem's salaries to parliamentarians because I am not even sworn in. However, I said that politicians like any other worker should be consulted in case of a salary adjustments. But as an elected MP I would want a decent salary," said Gathoni.She denied that she wants a salary equivalent to the votes she garnered (over 800,000) in the just concluded August 8 General election."My salary should be able to give me a conducive environment to discharge my duties. I have fought for my space and, therefore, my salary should enable me perform efficiently and effectively." she said.Gathoni added: "I regret what I said though and I even wish I never answered that question. Everybody is bashing me around saying that I now want a new lifestyle which is not the case," she added.
