Residents of Gatundu with relatives in Gatundu general hospital have complained about a water shortage in the institution, saying that they often had to carry water from home for the patients in hospital
According to the hospitals’ medical superintendent Patrick Githinji the water has been a problem in the hospital. Githinji said that the little water they do receive could not serve the large population of patients.
He said that the hospital advised those with patients in the hospital to see that their patients had water to drink and also for their personal use.
“We have a real problem which I would request the county government to address before it’s too far gone. People may start suffering from waterborne and hygiene diseases due to this state and it would be a very unfortunate if this can happen in a health facility,” said Githinji
He further called upon the area legislator Moses Kuria to intervene and see that the issue is addressed. Githinji said that if the matter is addressed the hospital will be able to service residents properly.
