The members from Gatundu North and South constituencies had a message of unity, peace and harmony.

They expressed their satisfaction with the current leadership.

“We are happy with the way the president and his government are running the country and trying to unite the people. As the last of the Mau Mau, we would like to meet the president to have a word with him before our days are over,” said Hannah Wambui, 80.

Francis Mbugua, another Mau Mau fighter said: “We are behind the government and we thank God for giving us good leaders. It is our hope that they will transform this country in terms of unity, peace and development.”

Pastor Peter Mburu who presided over the function asked Kenyans to pray for the entire leadership of the country including the opposition.

“What I would like to ask all Kenyans from all corners is to pray for all our leaders from all sides so that they can unite, love one another and lead the country to a common destiny,” said Mburu.

The past one week has seen heightened public prayers activities in various parts of the country as the president attended his status conference at The Hague and after his return on Wednesday.
