Gatundu south MP Moses Kuria has urged the county government of Kiambu to review the finance laws especially concerning religious crusades.
The crusades currently according to the MP cost Sh4000 per crusade and churches in the area have urged the county governor to review the levies just like he did for the traders in the county.
The MP who was speaking in Gatundu town on Wednesday said that many churches in his constituency have raised concerns regarding the payment asking him to help them convince the county governor to reduce the levies bestowed on them.
He said that the fee is much higher for the churches which have shun holding crusades since they have proved to be expensive and the church cannot manage to raise the cash.
Kuria promised to pay for all the crusades in his constituency between the month of May and June as he persuades the county government of Kiambu.
The MP said that he is determined to support churches and religious interest in the county especially during this time of terror attacks in the country.
He has urged residents to pray for him as his fate is looming at the High Court concerning hate speech terming it a threat to his parliamentary seat in Gatundu south.
However he has hailed the county Governor William Kabogo for the reduction of taxes in the county which had caused controversial issues among Kiambu leaders and traders.
Kuria has urged Kiambu leaders to join hands and work as a team to ensure Kiambu moves forward in terms of development.
