Speaking on Monday at Igegania Location, Chania Ward Pamoja Disabed Group chairman James Mwangi says that Uwezo fund has been of great help to the group.

“Uwezo has helped us to expand our businesses hence helping us to live a better life,” said Mwangi.

Pamoja Disabled Group is a local venture formed by Gatundu North PLWDs and manufactures consumer products.

“Upon getting the fund we were able to manufacture quality soaps and our business is thriving,” said Mwangi.

For now Mwangi has urged the government to increase its allocatocation to PLWD saying this will enable them to start or expand their enterprises.

Mary Wahugo, Gatundu North Uwezo Fund Co-coordinator exuded optimism over the initiatives undertaken by PLWDs.

“The disabled have shown that disability is not inability,” said Wahugo. Government will continue supporting people living with disability for them to realise their full potential.

She said that she has followed the activities of the group and noted that the group has potential to do more.

At the same time Mang´u MCA Kimani Gachihi urged parents living with children with disability not to hide them.

“All children are equal and they should be given a chance to exploit their talents,” said Gachihi.
