Gatundu North adult’s education and continuing student’s officer Edward Kihoro has urged adults in the area to embrace education.

Speaking in Kamwangi Town on Monday, Kihoro stressed the importance of embracing education even at an old age in a bid to uplift literacy among adults in the area.

“I call upon the local people to utilise the available government resources to access knowledge for their own mental and economic development,” he said.

The officer noted that adults taking lessons in the area are normally taken through chronological learning stages that entail evolving and upgrading achieved by a learner from the very basic literacy, all through to the functional literacy level where learners achieve life changing skills.

Kihoro reminded the adults to appreciate the great role that education plays in promoting development in the society, and asked them to take the initiative of enrolling for the classes.

“Adults should be wise enough to enroll for our lessons that help in changing people livelihoods, as well as erasing illiteracy in our society. An educated community is always bound to rightfully fit in the technological advancing world,” said Kihoro.

Kihoro said that education was the only guarantee to achieving development goals, and urged parents to ensure their children have access to education.
