Residents of Gatundu North sub county have been urged to work closely with the security forces in a bid to boost security in the area especially during this festive season.

Speaking on Saturday in Kamwangi, Gatundu North sub county deputy commissioner, Mark Mwangi said it was imperative for the members of the public to give information which they can use to prevent incidences of crime.

"Information is the key in curbing crime in Gatundu North, let people know that when information gets to the police desks, police officers react immediately prompting arrest of unacceptable situations," he said.

The administrator revealed that 9 motorbikes will on January be given to area chiefs in a bid to beef up security that has been the talk of many residents especially in Kamwangi town.

Mwangi challenged the chiefs to use the motorcycles they will receive prudently to provide service to the wananchi and improve security in the area.

"Gatundu South sub county, our neighbours here received the bikes a month ago. Ours were delayed due to procedural problems but we are now assured that they will arrive come January and they will be fiven to the chiefs," he said.

"We have increased our security patrols and mind you, chiefs should have no excuses. They should use the facilities they have at hand to ensure residents their safety," he added.

Mwangi said that most of the security problems in the area have been attributed to delayed reporting and low reactions from the residents to crime perpetrators.
