Gatundu North sub county will soon have a fire fighting station after the county government started talks with Kamwangi area administration with regards to setting up a fire station in the area.

The station is expected to cost the county government Kshs. 14.2 million shillings which includes the purchases of 2 trucks costing Kshs. 3.5 million each.

Speaking from his office on Thursday 3rd December 2015, the sub county director of operations Martin Mwangi noted that the area had been left behind in terms of emergency care services. He observed that Gatundu North has experienced 18 fire outbreaks in the year 2015 leaving property destroyed.

Mwangi said that the station would not only help the sub county fight fire outbreaks but will also employ competent staff from the area.

"We are yet to disclose the location of the station but once the negotiations are done, the location will be shared with the public. The station will employ area truck drivers and other administrative staff in the station all from Gatundu North sub county," he revealed.
