Students moving to universities, colleges and polytechnics from Gatundu North have been urged to choose their education prospects wisely to ensure their relevance in the job market.
Gatundu North education officer Michael Gatua noted that students were going for common business courses which were not only overcrowded but also had limited opportunities of outdoing others in the job market.
Gatua who was speaking from his office in Kamwangi on Monday urged students to make enough consultations with their career policy makers before enrolling for courses at the university level and other tertiary institutions.
"Students should be very observant of the course they are enrolling to. The job market is already flooded, no employers are advertising for posts, and graduates are desperate even after pursuing their studies," he said.
"Many of the careers students choose directly connect to the development of the nation. Consultations are often freely offered by seniors or elders who have already made it in the job market. Kindly consult and make wise decisions," he added.
Gatua also urged the youths who did not make it to university to join other training institutions like Gituamba polytechnics where they can learn life skills and trades which will enable them make a decent living.
