Gatundu North residents have welcomed Deputy President William Ruto’s visit in their constituency.
The visit was confirmed by the sub-county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti on Wednesday morning, and will be a historic visit as no sitting vice president has ever visited the sub county since independence.
Kiambu county Chief Officer in charge Public Service and Administration, who is also a resident of Gatundu North, has lauded Ruto for choosing to tour the area, which he says has been neglected by most national leaders.
Gicheru on Wednesday morning while briefing the media on the tour said that Ruto will visit Kaibere, Makwa which has been painted as the den of illicit liquor, `Gatukuyu, whose road has been neglected with both the county and national government disagreeing on who is responsible for its renovation among other places.
"We hope the DP will come along with goodies that will see this constituency grow after many years of being left behind. We expect the DP to among other places visit Kaibere, Kanjuku, Makwa, Gatukuyu and Kamwangi which is our headquarter. We urge residents to come out in great numbers to welcome in in our ever green constituency," he said.
‘I expect the deputy president to launch NYS projects in Gatundu North like other areas in the country to provide job opportunities for us jobless youths," Martha Njoki, a youth said.
The area elders led by Joel Karumi urged Ruto to launch stima mashinani project to enable the poor families that cannot meet the hefty electricity installation fee have access to light.
The DP is expected to visit the area on Saturday.
