In a Facebook post on Monday, Kuria said he has achieved a lot for the sub-county which had only 10 boarding schools but is now boasting an extra 19 new boarding schools in two years.

“Looking back at the last 24 months, I thank God Almighty for the strides we have taken. These 24 milestones in 24 months are a clear testimony of God's favour to me and the people of Gatundu South,” he said.

The controversial MP says 84% of Gatundu residents have electricity in their homes having overseen connection to 12,000 homes. He says the remaining 2,500 households will be connected by the end of this month.

He adds, “When I got into office there was no National Cereals & Produce Board Office in Gatundu. I got one in less than two months and from then our farmers pay a maximum of Sh1,800 per bag thus increasing maize, tea and coffee production.”

Kuria says that residents no longer travel to Thika for lands transactions as there is a lands registry office in Gatundu serving both Gatundu South and Gatundu North.

In addition, Kuria says motivational tours for pupils, free continuous exams and mocks are benefitting all schools in the area.

He also mentions a raft of other projects including roads, technical training institutes, university campus and an NYS programme employing 3,200 community youths among others.

Kuria says they have also partnered with Rivatex and the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) to up uniforms manufacturing centres at Kiganjo and Kagumoini polytechnics that will supply uniforms to school and churches in Kenya and within COMESA region.
