Residents now say that the trade happens in broad daylight inspite of the area being some few miles away from President Uhuru's rural home.

Residents also blamed the police officers for neglecting their duties escalating the problem further and are now urging the government to intervene and help save lives.

"Any chief who is not able to deal with alcohol abuse in his location should be dealt with" said one resident.

The president had earlier on issued a directive to the chiefs and assistant chiefs to launch a war on alcohol in the region but residents say that the situation is yet to change and they need action.

The alcohol which is brewed at specific homes and along the banks of River Theta, has affected the productivity of the youths since some of them drink every morning.

Among the worst hit regions are Kinyaago, Kahuhuini and Wamuguthuko where chang'aa abuse has been on the rise.

This comes amid a tug of war between the County Government of Kiambu and bar owners who are in opposition to the new law concerning alcohol regulation in the County.
