Residents of Gatundu South are set to benefit from the services of Rural Electrification Programme (REP) by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), a KPLC official has said .
Joshua Mutua , the General Manager of customer care at KPLC said that with Rural Electrification Programme ,Gatundu South residents can now have electricity at easy terms.
Mutua said that the National government recognizes that Rural Electrification Programme is a major pillar in enhancing the development of county.
“ The government has seen the need to empower rural communities through use of cheap electricity “, said Mutua , adding that,” with Rural Electrification Programme ,residents of Gatundu South can now get electricity at easy terms”.
Gatundu South MP , Moses Kuria said that the initiative by the government would spur development in the constituency.
“ With entry of Rural Electrification Programme , Gatundu South residents will get a chance to improve their livelihoods and spur development ”, said Kuria.
He noted that with Rural Electrification Programme in most part of Gatundu ,residents have benefited from the services of REP .
“ We have introduced electricity in a number of schools and hospitals which have made it possible to improve the service delivery”, said Kuria .
The legislator urged residents who have no electricity to embrace the initiative and have their homes get light.
“ With sh 1100 you can have light .All you need to do is fill the application forms and with the amount you get started “, said Kuria.
Kuria further thanked the Rural Electrification Programme for its commitment in providing electricity at affordable rates.
