This is after incidents where traders are conned their money in unclear circumstances. The recent case is of a butcher who was duped by a man who pretended that he wanted to buy some ready meat.

According to Julius Njoroge who works in a butchery in the town, a man came to his shop and ordered for the meat and asked Njoroge to buy him chapati to eat with the meat.

Tragedy occurred when he was given 200 for the meal and when he was giving the customer the change, he ended up giving him all the money he had.

This has allegedly occurred to many businessmen in the region who explained that they cannot tell what happens that they end up giving all the money in their pockets.

Njoroge was comforted by another trade in the area who allegedly lost about Sh4,000 in the same dubious way.

At the same time, Patrick Ndung’u who is a representative of the 'Nyumba Kumi Initiative' urged the residents to beware of some conmen pretending to be registering people and lying to be from the initiative. He assured them that only the plot owner will be contacted as he has all the names of all the tenants. The names will then be submitted to the area chief or headmen.

The administration has promised to take stern action against those caught and that they are on the lookout to ensure that the area is secure.
