Gedow launches Mandera hotline no to help victims of gender based violence
Mandera Woman representative Amina Gedow today launched a hotline number to help victims of gender based violence.
Together with PS for state department of Gender Hon. Sabina Kwekwe accompanied by CEO NGAAF Mr. Titus and executive director for Gender launched the hotline number 1195.
The MCA noted that under the sexual offence act, section 3 in the constitution terms rape as an offense and orders a term of not less than 10 years in prison, a section that proceeds and stated that a perpetrator might be jailed for life.
The MCA noted that her office will ensure that no Domestic Gender Violence will be solved through Maslaha but due process of law must be followed.
“I am committed in fighting for the rights of women in the county and protecting our defenseless young sisters from the evil,” She noted.
The MCA also launched bursary to support the needy, poor and less privileged in the society.
Amina noted that her office is committed to provide Bursaries and scholarships to support girl child education.
