The race for the over 400,000 Mombasa votes by gubernatorial aspirants has gained unstoppable momentum with the August 8 elections inching closer.
After pitching camp in Kisauni constituency for two days running, Jubilee aspirant Suleiman Shahbal took his campaigns to Likoni on Sunday where he met members of the GEMA community.Shahbal outlined his plans for the community who operate various businesses in the constituency that is considered an opposition turf. And in return, they promised to back his bid for the top county job,and vowed to work together to solve all the problems bedeviling the residents.Shahbal's bid received a major boost following the endorsement, as the GEMA community boasts of one of the largest voting blocs in Mombasa that can tilt the political scales in the county. However, Shahbal's gains in Likoni may soon be countered when Joho's brigade led by Women Rep Mishi Mboko tours the constituency in the race for over 70,000 votes.Just recently, Governor Joho was endorsed by members of the Kamba community in his reelection bid.
