Congolese music master General Defao was on Saturday morning detained at a Mombasa hotel over failure to pay a bill worth Sh20 000.
The management at Rickseaside Villas Hotel in Nyali took the action after the singer allegedly failed to pay the bill incurred over food and accommodation since August 1.
Defao however said that his host club that was supposed to honour the bills refused to pay, something which occasioned the disagreement between him and the hotel.
He said that they disagreed with the club in question after they (club) asked him to stage a performance on August 3, something which the musician failed to do.
This prompted the club to discontinue its footing of Defao’s bills on August 1, and the rest was left for the musician to clear.
Defao confirmed with journalists that he checked in at the hotel on Thursday July 28 and that the Sh20 000 had accumulated only after the first day of August.
