Several secondary schools in Bahati have received donations of computer equipment in a digital learning promotion programme by the Geothermal Development Company.
According to the company’s General Manager Irene Onyambu the company digital learning initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable education programmes that requires digital manipulation and skills.
While talking to teachers and students of Jomo Keyatta High School today, the company donated five computers to the school.
Onyambu has urged schools in the area to establish modern computer laboratories fitted with internet resources in order to boost digital based learning.
“In this age of digital technology we must shift all our social and economic institutions and operations to the new technology to be in conformity with modern trends. We at the company are dedicated to playing a role through this gesture, and we encourage school managers to recognize the importance of setting up computer laboratories in schools,’’ said Onyambu.
She announced that the company would continue executing its corporate social responsibility by assisting local education managers in uplifting education standards. The company hopes to establish a school fees bursaries fund and assist with teachers’ workshops.
