Migosi Ward Rep. Paul Achayo has confirmed that German government is set to fund Migosi Complex Primary School to the tune of 200 Million.
Speaking at Kisumu County Assembly, Paul Achayo said that Migosi Complex School received grant from Germany government under KFW (German Bank) towards the establishment of the school.
"We are lucky that the school was chosen among the four that were to be funded by the German organisation," said Achayo.
He claimed that Migosi Primary School is one of the biggest Primary Institutions in the country. “Currently it has about 2,300 students out of which 400 are total orphans and some are partial orphans and vulnerable children,” noted Achayo.
Migosi Ward Rep. said that some of students come from Obunga, Nyawita, Sigalagala and Manyatta slums.
The school’s classrooms are to be rebuilt in a modern way, to offer conducive learning environment.Contract project of the classrooms was awarded to China Jianxu Construction company.
During the December holidays when kids went for a break, the entire school was demolished to prepare for the new construction to kick of.
He said that shift classrooms have been made using iron sheets just to make sure pupils still continue learning even before to completion of the new classrooms.
“Learning has not been interrupted, it is going on as usual, but the kids will have to bare with us for the next 18 months for the time they will be attending their classes in the iron sheet rooms, after which they will enjoy the new ones,” said Achayo.
He added,"The contractor has promised to complete the school in 2016.The school will have 49 classrooms, a complete ECD Centre which will be hipped out from the main Primary School. It will have playing field, kitchen, library and a few shops around the school compound which we could hire at a fee."
He said that once the school is completed he expects enrolment in the school to increase.
