[Photo/Ochieng Owili]Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili chaired a meeting between the County government and investors from Sunfarming GMBH company from Germany for partnership.Sunfarming Company is a photovoltaic (PV) project development multinational company with its headquarters in Gemany. In collaboration with Maseno University the company is interested to establish a 70 Million dollar photovoltaic plant in Kisumu that will generate solar power of over 50MW that will boost power supply in the county and reduce the frequent power blackouts which discourages industrialisation and Governor Anyang' Nyong'o's plan to have a 24hour economy.The company will also help the county government in solving the perennial challenge of food insecurity by developing solar greenhouse constructions and modified free-field PV systems which will be used to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers.Dr Owili reiterated the county government's commitment to provide conducive environment for both foreign and local investors to do business and create employment opportunities for young people. The project is set to employ at least 2,000 people during construction and 200 when it is completed.The Monday was also attended by Governor Nyong'o's advisor on Investment and Resource Mobilisation Victor Nyagaya; Education, ICT and Human Resorce Development CeC Dr John Ogone and Business, Energy and Industry CeC Alice Moraa.Maseno University was represented by the Vice Chancellor Prof Julius Nyabundi.
