The two leaders shared a podium on Friday before holding a three-hour meeting at the Kisii Sports Club where they reportedly discussed at length the proposed MoU.

According to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity since he is not authorised to speak on behalf of the two, the MoU is in the final stages and will be unveiled soon.

“Yes, they are in discussions to have Gesami become a one-term governor in 2017 because he has already served as MP for two terms. The MoU will see Bosire go from the gubernatorial seat in 2022,” said the source.

The source added: “The MoU is in the final stages and the two will make it public soon. That is why you heard Gesami saying at the funeral that he only needs five years to streamline Nyamira.”

But in an interview on Monday evening with this reporter, Gesami would neither deny nor admit on the secret pact, but insisted he was willing to work with like-minded persons.

“I am not aware of that but I am always ready to work with like-minded persons. That is democracy and it makes people win elections,” he said.

And Bosire shared similar sentiments but insisted he was keen on recapturing his Kitutu Masaba seat in the 2017 polls.

“Election coalitions and MoUs are part of democracies. However, I am concerned on recapturing my seat in 2017,” he said.
