West Mugirango MP James Gesami has dismissed claims that he has bowed out of the Nyamira County gubernatorial race as ‘political and uncalled' for.
This comes moments after a section of social media users trolled Mr Gesami over alleged reports that he had bowed out of the race, leaving the ODM ticket to the incumbent, Governor John Nyagarama.
And on Thursday in an exclusive phone interview with this writer, Gesami insisted he was in the gubernatorial race and ruled out chances of moving out of the Orange party.
“Those propagating propaganda are people stage-managed to bring me down. The information is political and uncalled for because I have never made such pronouncements,” he said.
“I am also in the ODM to stay because I am one of the founding members. I am ready to battle it out with anyone ready for the ticket in the 2017 gubernatorial race. It’s my appeal to supporters to ignore such reckless propaganda,” he added.
Mr Gesami is set to battle it out with Nyagarama for the ODM ticket and retired Judge Anasi Onyancha is also understood to be eyeing the seat through the same ticket.
