A section of Nyamira leaders has condemned the cruel murder of two children who were hacked to death by their father in Nyamira Township ward.
West Mugirango MP James Gesami led a host of other leaders to condemn the murder where the suspect was also lynched by irate residents on Thursday.
“I am deeply shocked that a person can wake up and finish innocent children simply because of family issues. This is where we need our churches to intervene in such cases are becoming rampant,” Gesami said.
“This is so unfortunate and it makes us re-think on how to solve social problems. As leaders, we don’t encourage since animosity and I plead with residents to handle matters soberly,” added Majority leader Laban Masira.
Bogichora MCA Buttah Omanga condemned the incident at the same time cautioning residents against taking the law into their hands.
“It was really backward for someone to translate domestic quarrels to death on innocent children. However, it’s wrong also for residents to take the law into their own hands. Let us try to respect the law,” he said.
The man identified as Moriasi is alleged to have differed with his wife and resorted to live wit his children. The course of the man’s actions is not yet established.
